What NFC is

NFC is the same technology used in transit cards and tap-to-pay. Most recent phones can read it. Put an NFC chip in a pet tag, and anyone who finds your pet can just tap their phone to see how to reach you.

How it works

1. The finder taps or scans

They tap the back of their phone on the tag, or scan the QR code with the camera.

2. Your pet's profile opens

They see your pet's name, the details you chose to show and your number, and can call you right away. No app needed.

3. You update it yourself

Change your number or message in the app at any time without a new tag.

Preorder the new Pettagu Tag to see your pet’s location in the app.

4. No charging

The NFC chip has no battery. It's powered by the phone during the tap.

NFC tag vs GPS tracker

  • An NFC tag helps finders contact you, but doesn't show where your pet is.
  • A GPS tracker shows your pet's location, but needs charging.
  • The current Pettagu Tag uses NFC and QR. The new model that shows your pet's location in the app is open for pre-order.
