Why keep your pet's health records
When your pet is sick, the vet will ask what happened before, such as which vaccines they've had, any drug allergies, or when they started losing weight. If you can answer clearly, the vet can assess faster and avoid repeat tests.
6 things to note
1. Vaccines
Vaccine type, date given, clinic name and next due date
2. Flea, tick & worm prevention
Product name, date given and next round
4. Check-ups and lab results
Blood tests, X-rays or the vet's advice. Snap a photo with the date.
5. Drug or food allergies
This matters most at a new clinic or in an emergency
6. Chronic conditions and current medication
Drug name, dose and frequency, plus any surgery or neutering history
How to keep them easy to find
- Keep it in one place, not split between a paper book and photos on your phone
- Always note the date and clinic name
- Make sure family members who help care for them can access it too
